Linguistics v/s Languages

The intro is wrong. Not all of linguistics looks at the study of specific languages, although the study of languages is always based on linguistics. Studying a language does not make you a linguist although some parts of linguistics does look at specific language learning and teaching. The theoretical aspect should not be removed from linguistics. I don't think the intro should be written like this. It's wrong. comment edited by BombaiyyaMag (talk) 04:55, 20 July 2023 (UTC)

How would you change the wording? What exisitng wording would you change, and to what new new wording? You can just edit the lead yourself, but be prepared to discuss your change if someone reverts you or otherwise objects. (See BOLD, revert, discuss.) Donald Albury 16:37, 20 July 2023 (UTC)
I did edit it and I think it's fine for now. How would you improve it further? BombaiyyaMag (talk) 11:01, 9 August 2023 (UTC)

There are a number of books you can cite in order to bring out the relationship between universal grammar (or theoretical linguistics) and descriptive linguistics that deals with language variations. BombaiyyaMag (talk) 07:51, 12 August 2023 (UTC)
