Paddle Steamer[edit]

I have a picture of the Lincoln Castle paddle steamer but nowhere to put it. Anyone more knowledgeable wanting to start a stub? Drop me a line, please. E Asterion u talking to me? 11:13, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Links[edit]

The two "Friends of Lincoln Castle" links should be removed, as the site no longer exists. (86.3.4.244 09:57, 9 December 2006 (UTC))[reply]

You are quite right. It's done. (RJP 20:32, 9 December 2006 (UTC))[reply]

I've added Wikilinks to the entries on William Marwood and his first use of the "long-drop" execution method. I think that should be enough of a citation, so I've removed the tagZhochaka 19:01, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Information board or Lincoln website relating to Prison chaplain.[edit]

I remember seeing the prison chaplain picture with text describing him as "haranguing" the prisoners, a description which the uploader also included. Unfortunately this wasn't referenced and was replaced with "where they were taught how to lead better lives by the chaplain" which is equally unsourced. Can anyone confirm "haranguing" and specify the source? JRPG (talk) 11:39, 11 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Assesment[edit]

Quite good article, but lack of in-line references is holding it back.--Robert EA Harvey (talk) 04:20, 3 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Added some from Pastscape, but those for the battles are very oblique. More needed--Robert EA Harvey (talk) 04:20, 3 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Added some more, probably worth a C now. Too much unreferenced to be a B or for a GAN--Robert EA Harvey (talk) 09:26, 17 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

1000 year old church[edit]

Current excavations prior to building a new (and unnecessary?) visitors centre have uncovered a church which may predate the conquerer's castle. I want to let the dust settle, Not enough detail really to modify the article:

A sensible approach to wait and see if more information comes out. And that's for the links! Nev1 (talk) 18:41, 20 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Penny Cyclopedia[edit]

In my albeit limited experience, I've not found the Penny Cyclopedia to be terribly reliable so I'm not sure we should be linking to it as a source. There is, however, this from G. T. Clark, a 19-th century antiquarian whose work is still well regarded amongst castellologists (yes that's a word. A silly one, but it is a word). Nev1 (talk) 19:59, 26 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

New photos[edit]

Wikimedia UK visited Lincoln recently, and we got to go inside the castle. Above are the pictures we took. I hope they're useful, and while uploading I tidied up the existing categories a bit. Richard Nevell (WMUK) (talk) 16:16, 12 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Editing[edit]

Thank you, Doomskirk, for the advice. I thought that I knew as a matter of fact, that there was a second “separate” chapel at Pt Arthur, but…a propos of sources…in checking, found that it is a replica. Horatio the Yr 144.139.251.120 (talk) 02:17, 14 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
