Taxonomic confusion[edit]

Apparently the taxonomy here is highly complicated; Liceales seems oldest and most used, including by EOL and NCBI, but the familial circumscription varies. Many sources, like GBIF and CoL, reject an order Liceales and use Cribrariales instead to contain Liceaceae and several related families (some different, some the same families listed under the various circumscriptions of Liceales). Even more recently, it seems an order Reticulariales is now proposed (used, e.g., by iNaturalist) to include famous genera like Lycogala, and Liceales and Liceaceae are retained in a much narrower form (I am not sure where the other members of former Liceales go in this case)

I would have no idea where to begin editing an article like this, let alone all the other relevant ones, as I am unfamiliar with the details of Wikipedia's taxonomy. I would appreciate some input and would love to help remedy this somehow. I was going to simply list the four families listed on NCBI in the taxobox, but realized it was much more complicated.
