Alleged use of this beautiful song by a dictatorship during torture is not a fact nor relevant to the song and the artist.[edit]

I tried editing the article, but my edit was reverted within seconds, without any comments or review of the requested edit. Does this mean that it's a bot? Including commentary like this seems like a political move and diminishes the subject, which has nothing to do with Pinochet. The song was written to relate the true story of a young man escaping East Germany. Tying it to an extreme-right dictator is an attempt to invalidate the liberty ideals of the song and its use as an anthem for freedom. You cheapen it by attempting to make it an anthem for torture, the very opposite of the intention of the composer and singer.

Commentators have long claimed it was favourite of the supporters of Pinochet, and Bigote Arrocet sang it before Pinochet at the Viña del Mar International Song Festival in 1974. Spanish newspaper El País wrote about this in 2020 [1]. Dentren | ^Talk 23:32, 26 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
