Article title[edit]

It's good to see this article being created as early non-Labor politics in Victoria is quite messy. However I note this article seems to use 1909 as a cut-off point on the mistaken belief that the national "Fusion" of Protectionists and Free Traders applied to state politics. As in other states, parliamentary Liberal parties existed both before and after the Fusion of 1909. The federal Liberal Party was not a federative party like the modern ALP and Liberals, there were no state branches even though state parties used the Liberal name. I think The Emergence of the Australian Party System (eds. Loveday, Martin & Parker) would be a good source to use here as it's one of the most comprehensive sources for early non-Labor parties, which is what I used for Tasmanian Liberal League. I would suggest the formation of the National Federation in 1917 would be a better cut-off point, but not sure exactly when parliamentary Liberals in Victoria began calling themselves Nationalists.
