Confused[edit]

Um....the sequence of events doesn't seem to make sense. As I read it, the grey horse is killed, but somehow goes on to vainly attempt to protect his master. ??? The only way this makes sense as written is if he bled to death slowly, but even so, some clarification is definitely in order.
