The article needs a synopsis, which I'll create from the OR programme. However, it appears to be almost identical to that of Poliuto, although expanded somewhat. At this point, it's a "C", I think. Title[edit]

Regarding the move from Les martyrs to Les Martyrs: Are we now abandoning the fairly easy-to-follow guidelines at Wikipedia:WikiProject Opera/Article guidelines#Operas: capitalization and diacritics? I thought Wikipedia would steer clear of the French own irregular treatment of capital letters. William Ashbrook in the Grove article on Poliuto spells Les martyrs mainly in lower case (4:1). Well, having just heard the opera sung in London and acquired the Opera Rara programme plus all the publicity material etc. where everything is capitalised - and then consulted one WP guide source which suggested using a reliable source - I consulted Grove and found it to be spelled with a cap "M". As I wrote: the Opera Project's guidelines seem to me to suggest otherwise and Wikipedia in general uses its house style for styling titles rather than sources (because they can be found for any variation). The Grove Online article I consulted (on Poliuto) uses 4:1 lower case. In any case, if you feel so strongly about it, you should change this opera's entry in the template {{Donizetti operas}}. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 07:42, 15 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Reliable & reputable sources can be found for any spelling; here are 2 more for "martyrs": http://www.gramophone.co.uk/review/donizetti-les-martyrs (they use both), http://data.bnf.fr/13981977/gaetano_donizetti_les_martyrs/.
