Gratuitous war crimes reference[edit]

In the 1950s it became common cinema practice to show German military personnel in a sympathetic light. I wonder if it is necessary to dwell on Runstedt's war crimes record. Is that necessary in an article on an actor portraying him?--Stetsonharry (talk) 17:09, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article seems fine now, talking about how Carroll "presented" Rundstedt, rather than what Rundstet actually did or was. -- John Broughton (♫♫) 19:55, 8 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Age[edit]

This bio can't be right. Born 1886 - so he was 82 when the Man From Uncle finished? I don't think so —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.67.44.112 (talk) 23:39, 19 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

He was born 1886 and was exactly 82 years old when The Man from U.N.C.L.E. was finished. The Social Security Death Index confirms it. I don't know where this 1892 birthdate came from, but it is false. 79.124.57.97 (talk) 16:08, 8 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The ONS Births index gives
Carroll, Leo Gratten, Oct-Nov-Dec quarter 1886 Daventy 3b 106

Yes. 1886 is correct: http://www2.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/information.pl?r=76823772&d=bmd_1399917892. I also found him, listed as age 4, on the 1891 census. Crisso (talk) 09:38, 22 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Please read entry before adding material[edit]

I am sick and tired of having to remove redundant material from Wikipedia articles. There was no need to mention twice that Carroll starred in Topper from 1953 to 1955 with costars Anne Jeffreys and Robert Sterling. Once is sufficient. Sd31263 (talk) 13:19, 23 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Clarify, please[edit]

In the 1901 Census for West Ham, London, his occupation is listed as "wine trade clerk". In the 1911 census, he is living at the same address and described as a "dramatic agent".

This could refer to Leo or his father. Can you clarify? Valetude (talk) 13:48, 4 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
