Talk:Leningrad (song)

Someone might mention in the Page that the melody of the song "Leningrad" sounds like being based on one of those many themes of Pjotr Illych Tchaikovsky's Violin concerto Nr. 3 (D major)

(I'm aware that *I* could be that someone, but I'm too reluctant by nature :-)

is it really necessary to put a spoiler tag on the content of the song?--Kevis 15:06, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I reverted that. Copyrighted lyrics aren't allowed on Wikipedia. Hurricanehink (talk) 18:32, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Anyone wonder what happened to Viktor? I've always wondered what happened to him. 76.23.222.83 (talk) 19:09, 17 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"borrowed" themes[edit]

I deleted the reference to Tchaikovsky's violin concerto, since the main theme has nothing in common with the Leningrad themes. Joel itself told the german public during his concerts 2006 that he borrowed themes from two other composers. He himself mentioned Edvard Grieg. Other sources found similarities to Brahm's "Waldesnacht, du wunderkühle" (can be heard here, at 1:10). -- 194.39.218.10 (talk) 06:23, 26 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

That was a good call. After some checking I could find no evidence in WP:RS to support the Tchaikovsky theory. I also listened to both pieces of music and was unable to detect any similarities.  Philg88 talk 08:08, 26 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
