Inadequate scope[edit]

I find it very curious this article on the production of leather begins with a prepared hide. Where does the hide come from? While I do think it's somewhat disingenuous for this article to clinically dance around the preconditioned slaughter of animals, I'm also curious to what extent this supply chain is synthesized with the meat industry and other industrial animal uses. The hides used are the byproduct of meat production. I don't think anyone is hiding anything. The accusatory tone is unneeded. oknazevad (talk) 16:42, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

leather[edit]

All unbound chemicals are chemically bonded/trapped or removed from the leather 49.145.133.109 (talk) 02:39, 20 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Merge tags[edit]

So I don't know if a merge is the true solution, but I tagged the articles because there is obviously far too much redundancy between this article and tanning (leather). Six years ago I brought up my concerns on the other talk page and the only response didn't address them at all because the commenter missed the point. No matter how this all shakes out, it's clear that there needs to be a proper discussion about the contents and scopes of these two articles to address clear redundancies where both articles are covering the exact same steps in the leather making process, with notably different quality of writing and sources. oknazevad (talk) 17:03, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
