Either we do have companies dealing in this business in the external link section or we don't. But indiscriminately deleting some and leaving randomly selected companies and papers is not ok. Obviously there are other groups like Winefordner's with the same academic reputation out there: Sabsabi, Noll, Bäuerle, Niemax, Panne, Mauchien etc.. and in most cases there are the associated spin-offs where links are justified.

In general, I agree, and would lean toward removing the commercial links. Your argument would be more convincing, however, if you didn't appear to be a spammer yourself. When an IP user with little contrib history adds an ext. link to a commercial site, I always just assume spam and take it out. I also took some others that didn't have obvious relevance beyond maybe some commerical involvement; sorry I didn't check the rest more carefully. Dicklyon 17:40, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

admittedly I am new to the wiki-stuff and was a bit put off by the randomness of the validity of the external links. OTOH: IBM has a Wikipedia entry as well, so why not a short link to LIBS-companies? Anyway, I'll try to find more uni-departments and related institutions for the link-list. Also, I gave the double pulse part a general makeover and removed the irrelevant part about delay generators;

Clarification

In the last paragraph of the "Design" section, the following portion needs clarifiaction:

"Spectrometer response is typically from 1100 nm (near infrared) to 170 nm (deep ultraviolet), the approximate response range of a CCD detector. All elements have emission lines within this wavelength range."

It is unclear to me, at least, whether this means that all of the emission lines from any element will fall in this wavelength range, or whether this simply means that all elements have at least some of their lines in this range. If I knew, I'd fix it myself.

Also, is the use of the word "temporal" at the end of the paragraph really necessary? It's not a very common word (at least in the southwestern United States), and it seems rather ambiguous here, especially as it links to Wikipedia's disambiguation of the word. Unless my interpretation is wrong, I think the phrase could just be "allowing timely resolution"; if my interpretation is wrong, then that just further justifies the modification of the phrase. 209.173.109.5 (talk) 05:21, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

LIBS for food analysis (September 2021)

I would suggest deletion of the final short paragraph on the analysis of oysters as i) I doubt mesolithic food is what most people would understand from the title, and ii) singling out one study seems like an advertisment given there is now much published LIBS work 217.155.100.50 (talk) 18:20, 19 September 2021 (UTC)
