Revert

I reverted the edit about the "Lance Berkman is not Jewish, as some rumored him to be." I'm a relatively large Berkman fan, and I have not: A. Read anything rumoring this or B. heard anyone wonder about this. Since the anonymous user didn't give any sources, I reverted. --JRed 00:39, 10 January 2006 (UTC)

Odds and Ends

His high school job was loading and delivering cabinets for a cabinet warehouse.

Fans in the outfield stands at Wrigley Field teased Berkman, calling him fat during an entire game. Then, some rowdy fans threw two Twinkies at him. He ate one of the Twinkies while on the field, and put the other in his back pocket to eat later.

Berkman faked a knee injury while jogging toward the dugout from the outfield, thinking the third out had been recorded. As he was jogging in, he realized there were only two outs, and went down with his "injury." When the trainer came to Berkman's side, Berkman explained the confusion and the trainer covered for him.

There is a rumor that he still drives around in a beat-up truck from college that is full of mud and has no air conditioning.

His nick is Fat Elvis

His nickname was Fat Elvis. However, Berkman became tired of this nickname and has begun to promote himself as "The Big Puma." Big Puma isn't really "fabricated and unofficial," Berkman just didn't really care for the Fat Elvis nickname and was asked in an interview what he'd rather have as a nickname. He responded tongue-in-cheek that he should be some sort of sleek, agile, athletic cat...like a Puma. The moniker took off from there. I'm sorry, but lance berkman is one of, if not the most important players on the astros, and easily one of the best players in the state of texas...maybe someone should reexamine his "importance". just look at his stats for gods sake. Trade to Yankees

Might help, but sometimes it takes too long to get the protection and by the time it comes in the deal is done. According to this (also mentioned on MLB Trade Rumors), even if a deal is already completed there's a one day grace period for a player with 10-and-5 rights, like Berkman, allowing them to reconsider approval. So therefore this deal won't go through today under any circumstances. It might go through tomorrow, if it's already been agreed upon. --Muboshgu (talk) 22:06, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
