Why did this become a terminus?[edit]
The article doesn't explain - and neither does the article on the Lancaster and Carlisle Railway - why the station was not turned into a through station? Instead it became a spur for a goods yard. I note that if the railway had continued north through Lancaster it would have crossed the River Lune at a much narrower point than the site that was required to build the actual viaduct.
It's an interesting that the effort to build this grand station came to nothing in less than 10 years. 81.141.39.134 (talk) 21:26, 18 August 2020 (UTC)
