I have cited http://www.deangoodman.com/lally-stott/ because, even though it's a blog rather than a news source or reference work, it includes a picture of Stott's gravestone and transcripts of the report of his fatal road accident and funeral notice in the local newspaper, The Prescot and Huyton Reporter.

POP MAN IN DEATH SMASH Pop songwriter Lally Stott died two days after being involved in an accident on his new motorbike near his Whiston home. Thirty-two-year-old Lally – real name, Harold – who lived in Warrington Road, died in Walton Hospital on Monday after he had been involved in a collision on Saturday afternoon. Mr. Stott was the writer of the Number one hit of the early seventies ¨Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep.¨ His Yamaha 50 motorbike collided with a Vauxhall Cresta which was travelling in the opposite direction in Windy Arbor Road, near to its junction with Simons Close. Mr. Stott, who suffered serious head and leg injuries, was originally taken to Whiston Hospital. He was later transferred to Walton Hospital where he later died. The driver of the Cresta, Mr. Walter Burgess, aged 39, of Little Moss Hey Cantril Farm, was not hurt in the accident. Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident to come forward. Can that photo really be from 1962? 1972 seems much more likely - how many 17 year old boys (as Stott would have been in 1962) had such long hair in 1962?Freewheeling frankie (talk) 22:15, 13 May 2022 (UTC)
