Possible article improvements[edit]

I have assessed the article against B-class criteria:

  1. Referencing is fine.
  2. Topic coverage is an area for improvement. Etymology could have its own section, and Reed's Place Names of New Zealand would be a good source to consult. Geography should have its own section, or add further to the material under the heading 'Description'. If possible, add which type of lake it is. If you can find it, add what size area it drains. You mention aquatic fauna under history, but what is the current situation?
  3. Defined structure: Good, but see suggestions under 2. I also suggest you expand the lead, so that it is a more rounded summary covering all major topics discussed.
  4. Well-written: Good.
  5. Supporting material: Good.
  6. Appropriately understandable way: Good.

In summary, I suggest it needs a bit more work to meet criteria 2 and 3 before it's B class. Schwede66 18:02, 30 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the suggestions. I've rewritten the lead, put the name information in its own section, added lots more information on the physical characteristics and origin of the lake, and updated the birdlife. Surprisingly, there's no mention of any of the place names in the Reed dictionary. Giantflightlessbirds (talk) 01:40, 3 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
