Discrepancy in reserve name[edit]

Census Canada has the reserve named as Seine River 22A2 (see link) which is the name used in the article title. However, the Geographical Names Board of Canada (GNBC) has the name as Lac des Mille Lacs 22A2 (see link), which parallels the nomenclature of the Lac des Mille Lacs First Nation's other reserve Lac des Mille Lacs 22A1. I have sent a request to the GNBC to clarify. --papageno (talk) 01:16, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The Lac des Mille Lacs FN uses the term LdML 22A2 on their website under "location", but the map on the same page uses SR 22A2. Hopefully GNBC gets back to you. FUNgus guy (talk) 04:57, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I have received the following reply from the GNBC:
Reply to your inquiry/En réponse à votre demande
Hello,
Thank you for your question regarding the Geonames database. Your message has been forwarded to me for response. I work with the GNBC Secretariat, the group responsible for maintaining the database. Our information on names and locations of Indian Reserves is provided to us by Indigeneous and Northern Affairs, and the Office of the Surveyor General. Although errors can occur, we do our best to keep our records current and accurate.
According to information in our files, the Reserve at the location identified in our Web search was originally named Seine River 22A2. Seine River 22A2 changed its name to Lac des Mille Lacs 22A2 on 3 May 2012. As the Statistics Canada information shown on their Web site for this Reserve is based on the 2011 Census, it reflects the former, rather than the current name. This update to the name should be made during collection of the data for the next Census.
I hope this information is helpful.

Your inquiry/Votre demande
Dear Sir or Madam, The Geonames database has an entry code FKAVU for the Lac des Mille Lacs 22A2 Indian reserve. However, Census Canada appears to have the same reserve named as Seine River 22A2 (see). Is there a reason for the discrepancy?
It seems that we should move the article to the new "Lac des Mille Lacs 22A2" name.--papageno (talk) 19:43, 8 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Done. FUNgus guy (talk) 04:07, 9 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
