I removed "barren" and replaced it with "arid but fertile". I think this description is closer to reality, as 'barren' gives the impression that nothing grows there, which is plainly (no pun intended!) not the case. There are literaly hundreds of thousands of hectares under vines and olives and cereals. --BodegasAmbite 11:00, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

La Mancha isn't north of Madrid[edit]

Consequently, I have already changed it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.228.188.200 (talk) 12:32, 25 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Name" section[edit]

I notice that the section for the etymology of "La Mancha" is completely blank. I checked the history, but wasn't sure if the information provided was valid, as the one who edited it removed it a few minutes later.

Is there no info on the name, or should I simply remove that section? 09gebejo 21:04, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I came to this page from the Castile-La_Mancha page where I removed 2 separate comments about the etymology of the name. I found sources to support the Basque (though the original said Latin) origin and one for the Arabic origin. I found no references to Mancha being derived from March (a region controlled by a Marquess or Marquis). I don't know much about Spain, Spanish or La Mancha... I hope someone can come in and improve this beyond the little I set up. marnues (talk) 19:07, 5 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed several hyperlinks that have no article. (Red links) Kidkidpie2 (talk) 00:26, 4 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
