Untitled[edit]

Greetings! If you are new to editing Wikipedia, this is a "talk" page where editors who work together on pages hash out exact wording, check each others reference, and work together to grow and develop a page. It can be most gratifying to work on a self-selecting editorial team. You can add this page to your "watchlist" so as to keep up on the discussion, and remember to sign your posts using the four tildas or the 10th button from the left just above this box.--I'm Nonpartisan (talk) 02:40, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the opportunity to contribute. I hope the re-edits I've made have addressed some of the level-headed concerns you outline below.--Edugamer (talk) 15:04, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dietary tenants?[edit]

"The La Leche League has been criticized for letting political-correctness undermine the scientific basis for their breastfeeding advice. In particular, their dietary tenants may undermine some of the benefits of breastfeeding"

To start off our discussion, what dietary tenants? It's not enough to just reference an article without adding some specifics. That is, the reader should not have to go to the reference site to figure out what dietary tenants are being refered to.

So, what dietary tenants? LLL gives very little advice on what to eat or not eat while breastfeeding, leaving that choice to the mother. Or is the reference to dietary tenants for the baby? A "tenant" is a legal term, there are no foods outlawed by LLL. Also, LLL is not a "they", but an organization and so always an "it."--I'm Nonpartisan (talk) 02:47, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Very good points. I've made the minor grammatical errors and changed the language to "advice" which is certainly more appropriate. --Edugamer (talk) 15:06, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, if you knew anything about LLL you would know that Leaders don't give "advice", but instead they offer information and support. I don't think your edit holds water and is still an advertisement for your own services, but I'm calling in a third party for a unbiased opinion.--I'm Nonpartisan (talk) 21:17, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Criticism from WAPF is not exactly unbiased or nutritionally mainstream. WAPF has been accused of being anti-breastfeeding and it recommends a homemade raw-milk formula in place of commercial formula--against all mainstream recommendations. Alexisr (talk) 17:56, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

References[edit]

I think this article has enough references, other than the La Leche League website. I'll remove the "references needed" tag. Itzcuauhlti (talk) 02:41, 11 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Leche[edit]

In Britain the Leche in LLL seems to be mispronounced as if it was French (/leʃ/?) rather than Spanish (/let͡ʃe/?)--Rumping (talk) 21:44, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Name Origin Missing[edit]

The article should mention the origin of the organization's strange name. Should be important...112.198.98.115 (talk) 07:13, 1 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect translation of "Nuestra Señora de la Leche y Buen Parto"[edit]

Article says that "Nuestra Señora de la Leche y Buen Parto" means "Our Lady of Happy Delivery and Plentiful Milk". I don't see where they got the word "Plentiful". There's no word in the Spanish text that can be translated "Plentiful". Mksword (talk) 00:00, 7 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
