Concerns about this article

Angusmclellan has asked me to have a look at this article. First, there is a character of that name in Irish mythology, but he's little more than a name in an entirely mythical genealogy. Whether or not Ireland was settled from Spain, as recent genetic evidence seems to confirm, the individuals named in the Lebor Gabála and elsewhere have no basis whatsoever in reality. Is Lamhfionn (of Lámfhind as it's spelt in the Lebor Gabála) significant enough to warrant inclusion as a mythical character? I doubt it. I'll have a go at rewriting the article from the sources, but ultimately I don't think the character is notable. --Nicknack009 (talk) 21:10, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

There's so much rubbish written about Irish mythology it would take lifetimes to clear it all up, but the article on O'Hart may well be entirely accurate about his writings on Irish genealogy. Of course, anybody who expects to find reliable genealogy in the Lebor Gabála is obviously deluded. It seems evident to me that the entire "wanderings of the descendants of Goídel Glas" story is based on the Exodus, the Odyssey and the Aeneid, and if I can find a source to back that up I'll be adding something to that effect to the article. --Nicknack009 (talk) 21:59, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
