Personal life[edit]

This material does not seem to be consistent with the articles written about other academics in other countries. It has been moved here for reconsideration:

I hope this will be construed as helpful. -- Tenmei (talk) 21:36, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Academic life[edit]

The University of Ceylon's Department of Sinhalese provides only scant biographical data:

  • Karunaratne Kusuma E. BA(Cey), MA (Essex), PhD(Cey)

This material could be expanded. For example, what what the subject of Prof. Karunaratne's doctoral thesis?

There is a YouTube video montage which seems to present the front covers of several of Dr. Karunaratne's published works -- and it would be entirely reasonable to include a bibliography which includes these works as well as other articles she may have written? In this video, I noted the photographs of the small ceremony at which, presumably, the Japanese Ambassador to Sri Lanka, awarded the Order of the Rising Sun. Questions occur which could be answered in this article's text. For example, when? who? what? where? The citation accompanying the decoration must have explained in brief why this honor was being accorded Dr. Karunaratne. That minimal text could be expanded.

The Sunday Times reported that Professor Kusuma Karunaratne had salient observations to share about how Purahanda Kaluwara was received at the second Asian Film Festival in Tokyo; but the availability of such information on-line is limited. This article would be a plausible place to tell more about Prof. Karunaratne's experiences in Japan, perhaps?

I hope these modest suggestions can be of some use. --Tenmei (talk) 21:36, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Japan Foundation[edit]

This brief overview could be expanded by providing more details about this project. This appears to be a subject of some significance. --Tenmei (talk) 21:36, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
