OR or SYNTH

Fellow Wikipedians, On reviewing this article, I have found that the section It is thought that Kumamon's popularity and brand presence derives from being the sole mascot of Kumamoto Prefecture, unlike other institutions and regions that have multiple characters vying for popularity does not appear to be supported by either of the sources referenced.

It is possible that it is a synthesis from the Japan Times source[1], which does include A lot of local governments have too many yurukyara, since individual divisions created their own mascots with their own budgets. Most are instantly forgettable, and not just because the bureaucrats who came up with them lack imagination. The more mascots a local government has, the less likely the public is going to be able to remember any one in particular. The source does not, however, connect this with Kumamon.

As the source does not make the conclusion reached in the article, I will remove this section. - Ryk72 'c.s.n.s.' 09:27, 29 July 2015 (UTC)
