Birth date and image caption[edit]

I'm not convinced this date of birth (1875) is correct. One of Yuon's paintings is on display at the Weisman Art Museum and they've labeled it with his date of birth being 1857. A Google search in inconclusive, with about 20 hits for 1857 and 50 for 1875. They also had this painting labeled as "Trinity Monastery in Winter, 1910", not "To the Trinity, 1903". Angela, The birth date of Yuon is certainly 1875, All Russian cites I have checked (Including, say Tretyakov Gallery site) tells 1875, 1857 is also incompatible with his biography, so it should be somebody's typo that went over the places unchecked. The second question is more complicated, I would check with the uploader of the image abakharev 23:39, 14 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
The Great Soviet Encyclopedia gives October 12 (24), 1875 as his birth date. He joined the Moscow Art School in 1894, i.e., at the age of 19. As for the date and proper title of the Trinity picture, I confounded the View of the Troitse-Sergieva Lavra from Vokzalnaya Street, 1911 (which is a proper title) with To the Trinity, 1903 which is similar but different. --Ghirlandajo 11:45, 15 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the replies. Those sources seem to be more reliable than the ones I found citing 1875. It's nice to see Wikipedia's got it right when so many places are using the wrong date. :) Angela. 21:18, 16 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
