Diversion of the line?[edit]

I have looked at various OS maps of the area (accessible through http://maps.nls.uk) and have not found any significant signs of a diversion or realignment of the line. The station appears to have remained in the same place at least from 1895 until about 1940, even though it was goods only after 1905. --Schlosser67 (talk) 08:27, 14 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

In (or about) 1905, the railway was quadrupled. I think this is saying that when that happened, a slight re-alignment took place but nothing major. The railway was diverted from the slow line formation to the fast line formation in 1994 when the Airedale line was electrified, because at that time it was only a two-track line. I am at work now, but I can check Martin Bairstow's Railways through Airedale and Wharfedale tonight? Regards. The joy of all things (talk) 11:08, 14 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, the additional tracks show on the OS maps. But these works may not necessarily have been the reason for the closure of the station to passengers. It would be great if the paragraph could be amended, based upon Bairstow's book or any other suitable information. --Schlosser67 (talk) 11:30, 14 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm; does it make more sense now? I have changed the last line in the paragraph (A new station could provide opportunities for travel when Kirkstall Forge closed.) as it made no sense, because the link looked like it went to the station, when in fact it went to the engineering works page.The joy of all things (talk) 20:31, 15 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Definitely clearer now. However, I believe that instead of "canal", we should put "river" - it's the Aire that is crossed by the line both east and west of the station. I also doubt the space argument, as the new station is a little west of the old one, and the works were east of it, mostly across the river. --Schlosser67 (talk) 06:19, 16 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
