The ends of Kingston Pike[edit]

I'm going to be working on this article this week, and I have been trying to determine the eastern and western ends of Kingston Pike. From what I can tell, the eastern end is the old L&N tracks that run just east of Alcoa Highway, and the easternmost street address is 2309 Kingston Pike (Mertron Corp.). Beyond this, the road becomes Cumberland Avenue. The NRHP form for the Kingston Pike Historic District says the road begins at the Neyland Drive intersection, but several places east of this intersection— Metron, Fulton Bottoms, Ossoli Circle, and Tyson Junior High— have Kingston Pike addresses.

The western end is, presumably, the US11/US70 split at Dixie Lee Junction. This split is about two blocks east of the Knox-Loudon line. However, two businesses— Dixie Lee Nursery and Dixie Lee Fireworks— are located along this two-block stretch, and have "Highway 11 E" street addresses. So, postal addresses using Kingston Pike end at the Knox County line (the westernmost appears to be the vacant Court Cafe building at 13110). The Fireside Patio and Shop store, which occupies the wedge at the US70/US11 split, states it is located at the "end of Kingston Pike."

If anyone has any other ideas regarding the road's beginning and end, post it here within the next day or two. Otherwise, I'll go with the above definitions. Bms4880 (talk) 15:49, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
