"The Syndicate" title lawsuit[edit]

According to IMDb trivia for 'Chicago Syndicate' (1955):

"King Brothers Productions sued Columbia and Clover Productions for damages of $1 million due to their using the title "Chicago Syndicate", claiming they registered the title The Syndicate in 1950."

Can someone provide a reference for that? It sounds like a frivolous lawsuit, on a couple of counts: I don't think movies titles can be protected, and in any case, what damages? King never made the movie, so what was the basis of damages? BMJ-pdx (talk) 05:29, 11 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
