Khagani Shirvani Was not persian poet.

For every "source" you've provided there are three more in the article that state he was Persian. And riddle me this, if he was "Azerbaijani" then why does he have no works or even a single piece of writing in turkish? You are confusing "Azerbaijani" as a geographic term with modern-day "Azerbaijani" Turks. --Qahramani44 (talk) 22:17, 10 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Maryam Steininger[edit]

Maryam Steininger is not an academic figure. Read just the beginning of her book. The source of the book is her own collection. In addition, even if we accept what she wrote, it doesn't change Khaqani's situation; For example we can't write Mr. X was a Hamburgian [1] or German [2]!.--Aliwiki (talk) 21:56, 15 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of "Sample Rubaiyat"[edit]

I am removing this section partly because of the quatrains' authenticity (this issue is expounded further in the Iranica article), and partly because they are not the most beautiful specimen of the craft of Khaqani. His fame is primarily due to his odes, and as far as I am aware there are no verse translation available. Also, the current translation doesn't do justice.
