Kenyon - Leigh - Whatever[edit]

I started this article after I researched the lost railways and found no entry for Kenyon Junction Station. I'm a novice at Wikipedia so I don't know how to reference all my research material. What I do know is when the Leigh - Bolton line was built and opened to Freight in 1828 this became the world first dedicated steam locomotive railway ahead of the Liverpool Manchester line to the South. The creating of Kenyon Junction and the subsequent station was seen at the time as a part of the Leigh chain of Stations running thus Kenyon - Pennington - West Leigh - Atherleigh. Bedford Leigh (later just Leigh Station was on a branch line called the Tyldesley loop). At the time Kenyon was part of Lancashire (it's now in the Warrington UA formerly Cheshire) and associated with Pennington which later became a Parish of the Leigh Municipality.

Rather than simply removing my associations of Kenyon Station to Leigh I would rather others "Wiki expertise" could be used to apply references which I do not have the wiki expertise to do. Simply deleting a part of an article because it does not relate to Kenyon is not constructive. User J3mers seems to be confusing the Article about Kenyon Junction Station with Kenyon which does not help. This is not about Kenyon and so all my contributions connecting Kenyon Station to Pennington and other Leigh Stations are entirely proper and consistent. I would suggest that J3mers creates an article for Kenyon to differentiate the two which are entirely different. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rang1808 (talk • contribs) 23:27, 10 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate you started the article, I added to it from Dennis Sweeney's book and referenced it. I am not confusing the article with the Kenyon article which exists and which I started. This is an article about Kenyon not Leigh and it is important that articles remain focussed. Links to other articles are indeed "Proper" but speculation about linking Leigh to a busway is not. Perhaps creating Pennington railway station and Westleigh station articles is a way forward. I started the Tyldesley Loopline, Tyldesley and Leigh stations so later I will have a go. Propagandising a railway link for Leigh is not appropriate here. Perhaps we could help each other.--J3Mrs (talk) 08:43, 11 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm offended by the term propagandising. I'm very interested in the loss of our Railway Network I have no interest in propaganda. Inclusion of the Guided Busway has a clear link to bring the history and any future of the Kenyon Junction right up to date. Coming from the East Midlands I am more interested in the loss of the Thrapston Kimbolton line in 1959 and the closure of Thrapston Midland Road Station. Leigh attracted my attention after by birth town of Corby re-opened its station. This is my first venture in Wikipedia and I had no idea articles could be hijacked politically in this way. You seem to have a far greater ownership of Wikipedia than I do so I look forward to your articles on Pennington and West Leigh. I'll start an article on Thrapston Midland Road Station and leave it to others to fill out. I'll put the busway back into the Kenyon Junction article as I maintain this is entirely relevant to any future the Junction may have. I'm only interested in facts not sentiment - isn't that the point of Wikipedia.

I don't own anything on Wikipedia but I do know how to write a neutral, focussed, referenced article. These are the facts, Kenyon Junction was a station in Kenyon, Leigh was served by its own stations, people didn't travel from Leigh to use Kenyon station. The material I have removed is in the Leigh article and shouldn't be here. I know the area well and also know of a lobby to build a line from Leigh to Kenyon hence the propagandising. The guided bus won't pass within miles of Kenyon. By the way it helps if you sign your posts and please don't undo talk pages.--J3Mrs (talk) 16:49, 11 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your constructive comments especially regards the local lobby. I've made an addition which relates directly to the rebuilding of the station which I think you'll be OK with, it relates to Kenyon which I gather is your home town. I've seen your edit, it needs a verifiable reference, you cannot use Wikipedia as a reference. I have made a start on Pennington railway station and will do Westleigh and Atherleigh sometime soon.Please sign your edits.--J3Mrs (talk) 18:28, 11 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
