Death?[edit]

According to Brady Bunch star, Susan Olsen, Mr. Ober mysteriously passed away on the evening of 14 November 2009, on his sofa at home.

Paul F. Tompkins tweeted he was dead, retracted that, and later retracted the retraction. Nothing on Google News except rumors at present. DarkAudit (talk) 19:41, 16 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Birth name[edit]

Not done Hey. Unfortunately references are needed before such change can be done. If you can provide us a link to a reliable source that tells he was born as "Kenneth David Ober", it can be changed. At the moment this page is used as reference to his birth name. The page states that he was born as Ken Oberding. Thanks Ilyushka88 Talk to me 16:47, 20 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The obit also mentions my name which you can connect to my userid here. I am also in physical possession of his original birth certificate but clearly cannot make an image of it publicly available. {{editsemiprotected}} It's pretty hard to find a reference that can be used to refute something that is completely unsubstantiated. About the only choice I have is to go to a legitimate news source, show them the birth certificate and ask them to write another Wikipedia misinformation story. There are now thousands of websites reproducing the incorrect information and it's Wikipedia's fault. Wikipedia was the only source for the bad information which was added by someone before he died and the page became "semi-protected". Is it possible that you identify the original source of the information on Wikipedia and ask them to substantiate it. The Hollywood Reporter article that is cited was written well after the information was first added to Wikipedia and therefore, should not be a valid reference by Wikipedia's standards. Surely there is some recognition that the reproduction of a falsehood is not the same thing as substantiating a fact. --Freandc (talk) 23:34, 28 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

{{editsemiprotected}} Please look at the history of this page, in particular these two entries which were made from the same anonymous user/IP address: "October 26, 2007" and "November 30, 2007" It is clear that this person, by using two different birth names, is clearly just playing and has no basis for the information. This should be sufficient to at least prove that the original Wikipedia entry for this was bogus.
