Merge of Cathedral School in Turku[edit]

In my opinion, it is unnecessary to have two stubs on the topic of this educational establishment. The present-day Katedralskolan has a continuous history that dates back to the medieval Cathedral school. The school existed as a Cathedral School until reformation, after that it was a gymnasium and a trivialskola. When the Royal Academy of Turku was founded, the gymnasium ended its existence, while the trivial school remained as the only lower-level school of Turku until the 19th century. Then, the Turku trivial school was expanded into a lyceum which included both school levels. The most recent change of form occurred in 1979, when the school was transferred from state to Turku municipality and became a comprehensive school and a lukio. In all changes, the pupils and the staff have retained continuity. Thus, both the medieval and contemporary institution fit into the same article. --MPorciusCato (talk) 16:46, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
