Initial comment[edit]

This page was originally created by khw77 (me) who is also the subject of the page, hence potential for a conflict of interest. However, thank you to Escape Orbit for putting in citations and educating me on Wikipedia a bit, and hopefully helping to remove that problem!

Anybody actually dispute?[edit]

While this page is the subject of a NPOV discussion, there isn't a discussion going on.

Did Kate flag the NPOV herself as she's the only previous contributor to talk? All facts are correct within the limits of my personal knowledge having known Kate for several years. The NPOV flag should probably be removed. Vance (talk) 13:45, 21 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Notable?[edit]

Kudos to Ms Craig-Wood for announcing her COI. My take on it however is that if you have to write a page about yourself then the page automatically fails the notability test as if the subject was truly notable then a third party would already have written a page. I feel people who are the subject of a page should restrict their activities to correcting facts about themselves, not introducing themselves to Wikipedia.

I'd vote for page deletion on the grounds of Self-promotion and indiscriminate publicity as listed in the notability guidelines and additionally that the sources I find for Ms Craig-Wood present her in the context only of a successful transgendered businesswoman which means the below guideline applies.

In particular, if reliable sources cover the person only in the context of a single event, and if that person otherwise remains, or is likely to remain, a low-profile individual, we should generally avoid having a biographical article on that individual.

I'd personally vote for Kate to have a page on here - she's well known and respected in the UK IT industry and speaks publicly on a regular basis. I'd also vote for the NPOV flag to be removed - it's an accurate assessment that doesn't over-promote. It does need the award of "3rd sexiest geek" [[1]] to be added...

I see no issue with the page here - whilst it may have been written by Craig-Wood herself, she is a well-known IT entrepreneur and advocate for a range of Green IT issues. Her contribution to the LGBT field, especially around technology, should also be noted here.

Arguably, URLBlacklist simply categorised the sites in question as sexuality (not a false categorisation), and the school(s) themselves chose to block the category in question. (See http://www.aclu-em.org/pressroom/2011pressreleases/acluaskscamdentonriiitosto.htm).
