Area of the Kargad Lands[edit]

"The total land area of the Kargad Lands is about 4750 square miles (12160 km²)".
Map of Earthsea with scale here - http://scv.bu.edu/~aarondf/earthsea/images/earthsea2.jpg -
Earthsea as a whole is just about 1500 miles across.
The Hur-at-Hur and Atnini pair appears to be about 300 miles long by about 150 miles wide, or perhaps a little less than 45,000 square miles for these two islands alone.

Inca comparison deleted[edit]

I think the comparison of Kargish society to that of the Inca Empire is legitimate: highly militaristic, urbanized and technologically advanced (in the context of a pre-industrial world), but also generally illiterate. However until I can come up with something citable, e.g. some comment by the author or reflecting the author's thinking that an actual comparison was intended, I'll leave it as is.
