Requested move[edit]

The result of the proposal was Kalnik disambiguated, municipality is not the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. --Joy [shallot] (talk) 12:14, 13 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

KalnikKalnik (municipality) – The toponym "Kalnik" is more likely to refer to the mountain rather than the municipality (see previous discussion). However, "Kalnik" may also stand for several other referents, below. Suggestion: move this page to Kalnik (municipality), and create a disambiguation page at Kalnik for all possible meanings. – Miranche T C 10:46, 13 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There is also a Kalników in Poland.

Requested move (previous discussion, concluded)[edit]

– Per WP:COMMONNAME. The common use of the toponym "Kalnik" is more likely to refer to the mountain rather than the municipality:

  1. Of the first 10 google hits on "Kalnik" as of 2011-12-12, 7 refer primarily to the mountain and recreation activities involving it, 1 equally to the mountain and the town, and only 2 (admittedly the top 2), including this Wikipedia page, primarily to the town.
  2. Practically all of the google image hits on "Kalnik" as of 2011-12-12 refer either to both the mountain and the town (those showing the ruins of the old castle) or to the mountain alone (those showing landscapes and recreation activities).
  3. Wikipedias in local languages, i.e. Croatian, Serbo-Croatian and Serbian, so those likely to closest reflect the common use of the term, use the title "Kalnik" for the mountain and the equivalent of "Kalnik (municipality)" for the town. – Miranche T C 21:34, 12 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. It is not in the interest of any readers to remove obviously useful qualifiers like "(mountain)". This arrangement would work best, no matter what narrow legalistic argument might be adduced:
Kalnik (municipality)
Kalnik (mountain)
Kalnik (DAB page for the two above, and for Dolný Kalník and Horný Kalník).
Please check such related articles before making an RM. And please try to keep naive readers' interests in mind. We serve them, and they outnumber us by orders of magnitude.

Then what would be at Kalnik? Jenks24 (talk) 04:17, 13 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for asking, Jenks. My error. I have amended things so the DAB page would be simply Kalnik.
NoeticaTea? 04:52, 13 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Noetica, agreed, this is another option, and I'm totally open to it. A Wikipedia search also yields Kuzmyno in Ukraine which is apparently also known as "Kalnik", a river called "Kalnik" in Bulgaria (referred to in Vit), a character in Mork & Mindy (an evil alien from Neptune, no less, see episodes 92-94 or Neptune in fiction) and a Kalników in Poland. – Miranche T C 07:56, 13 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Miranche, thank you for the note at my talkpage, and for your further analysis here. I recommend that you withdraw this RM as soon as possible (before it gets entangled with other votes or comments), and issue a new one immediately that will reflect what we have both learned about the referents of Kalnik. (To je jako dobro, ja mislim.) NoeticaTea? 08:34, 13 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Sorry, I speedily-moved this without noticing this discussion. This was not a controversial move. --Joy [shallot] (talk) 12:12, 13 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
