  • A Google search for "Kajal Aggarwal" -"Kajal Agarwal" produces about 2,370,000 hits. "Kajal Agarwal" -"Kajal Aggarwal" produces about 19,700,000. This suggests that the spelling with the single g is by far the commoner name, and by WP:COMMONNAME the article should be moved at Kajal Agarwal. The policy on article titles is quite clear: "Wikipedia does not necessarily use the subject's "official" name as an article title; it prefers to use the name that is most frequently used to refer to the subject in English-language reliable sources." Agarwal is a very common surname in India. But, she has been credited as "Aggarwal" in all her films and most of the reliable newspapers which had interviewed her has quoted it as "Aggarwal". I agree that number of Google hits is not a reliable guide. I also accept that many of the Google hits may be for other people with the same name. If what you say about the use of her name in reliable sources and credits is true then it should be "Aggarwal". I checked the first 30 references cited in the article. (If anyone feels like spending time checking the other 29 then please do so.) 5 of them don't mention her under either version of the name, 10 use a single g, and 15 use a double g. As a mathematician with a special knowledge of statistics, I can say that a 10:15 split is exactly the average amount of deviation to be expected from a half-and-half ratio if the references were a completely random sample. That does not, of course, mean that the gg form is not commoner, but it does mean that the frequencies of the two spellings are not so greatly different as to settle the issue. In principal we could debate which of the sources are more reliable, but in my opinion that would be likely to waste a lot of time and come to no definite conclusion. My inclination is to say that the issue of frequency is unclear, if anything with slight but inconclusive evidence in favour of gg, and assuming (I have not checked) that you are right in saying that all her films have credited her as "Aggarwal", then "Aggarwal" it should be. Its true that there are spelling variations for 'Agarwal' and I even accept that 'Agarwal' is more common in India than 'Aggarwal'. Saying "All those films and newspaper sites are wrongly crediting her name" is missing the point. Wikipedia uses the name most commonly used in English, whether that name is "wrong" or not. For example, we have an article on Tony Blair, even though his name is actually Anthony Blair. We have an article on Julius Caesar, despite the fact that if Gaius Iulius himself could be brought back to life he would be bewildered as to why anyone would call him by his surname and the name of his tribe, let alone the use of the funny letter I with a curl at the bottom. "Tony Blair" and "Julius Caesar" are the names most commonly recognised in modern English, so that's what Wikipedia's manual of style requires us to use. The fact that they are not the "correct" names is irrelevant. If all the film credits and newspapers give her name as "Kajal Aggarwal" then it is likely that that is the form of her name most commonly used in English, whether you or I or anyone else thinks they are mistaken in doing so or not. I think after all these opinions and thoughts shared by experienced editors and one involved admin in this discussion also don't want to change the article name from Kajal Aggarwal to Kajal Agarwal. Actually this section was started by me. So the people posting their messages to this, if they don't think otherwise, i am wishing to give a Conclusion (Consensus) to this Name (Spelling) conflict. What i want to say is The Consensus for the above is "Kajal Aggarwal" is the right spelling being it was published in so many reliable newspaper sites. The name to use[edit]

This article seems to violate WP:SURNAME by referring to the actress mostly by her first name. I mean, she being a North Indian (but acting mainly in South Indian films) does not follow the South Indian tradition of eschewing surnames in favour of patronymics.
