Merging in uninhabited island pages[edit]

Listing a score of uninhabited islands individually seems ridiculous. If individually they have any notability they can be mentioned on this page about the Kaafu Atoll. Not every island in the world needs a Wikipedia entry. Fences and windows (talk) 01:00, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Done. No attention to this one sentence "article" in quite some time - redirecting to avert deletion. 147.70.242.54 (talk) 00:44, 6 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Inhabited?[edit]

The list doesn't seem to agree very well with http://books.google.com/books?id=JrwndjvkA3QC&pg=PA53&lpg=PA53&dq=%22Kaafu+Atoll+%22uninhabited+islands%22&source=bl&ots=oKa3mwioCS&sig=Jgn3llYuZNRbazhRjzo9_5ibyqE&hl=en&ei=5sgqSpG3BdjMjAe93YT3Cg&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=9#PPA40,M1

Does anyone has some specialist knowledge? Trilobyte fossil (talk) 19:58, 6 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Could you clarify your question? Which list are you talking about? - ℤiαηsh 18:29, 30 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Reopening can of worms[edit]

As it has often been stated, each administrative division of the Maldvies has an official name, usually that of the main geographic/natural atoll within that administrative division. The names of the characters of the Thaana abugida assigned to each administrative division is merely a code, not a replacement of the official name of the administrative division. As such, the name of pages for the administrative regions of the Maldives in Wikipedia should bear these names, rather than the codes.

However, recognising that the Thaana character codes are now often used, I would like to propose a compromise of the naming convention for the pages incorporating both the official/traditional name and the Thaana character code to become the title names of pages of the administrative divisions of the Maldives.

Here are the proposed new names for administrative division articles, and the components for the template. The names and spelling conventions follow official Madivian government website (eg National Bureau of Statistics) for the atoll names and also the name of letters for the Thaana alphabet which are used as administrative division code names.

From north to south they are:
