This article should probably be a redirect[edit]

It appears to fail WP:GNG. Tdl1060 kindly redirected it, with an edit summary: "Redirecting to List of Pacifica Radio stations and affiliates - nothing in article to indicate subject passes WP:GNG". This has since been reverted, so starting a conversation here to gain consensus. Jonathan Deamer (talk) 08:36, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not yet seeing notability per WP:NRADIO, WP:STUDENTMEDIA or WP:GNG. I've added one source I found from KLCC (FM) (NPR affiliate in Eugene), about KWVA's studio move in 2016. There was also some coverage in 2014 of how the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooter had reportedly phoned into a talk show on the station in 2009 [1]. The rest is passing mentions. That said, before redirecting again this would need to be taken to AFD. Wikishovel (talk) 11:11, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks @Wikishovel. I considered opening an AfD for this, but didn't know whether or nor this was the right approach if I'm expecting redirect to be the conclusion (having read Wikipedia:ATD-R). You're more experienced than me - can you help me understand best practice here please? Jonathan Deamer (talk) 13:29, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Since the page is tagged for notability, and hasn't been reviewed yet by WP:New pages patrol, I'd suggest we wait and get some more editors' opinions on this. There's no need to hurry, as it's no longer overtly promotional. How about we give it a few days, and then decide? Wikishovel (talk) 13:38, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Absolutely, as long as it wasn't "incorrect" for me to start a conversation here instead of AfD. I'm with you that there's no hurry :) Thanks for the input. Jonathan Deamer (talk) 13:52, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
University of Oregon#Media would probably be a better target than the one that I initially chose, with some additional information merged to that section, if consensus decides that the article should be redirected again.--Tdl1060 (talk) 16:11, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What's very strange is that all the citations were removed from the article at some point. I think the station merits a Wikipedia page, its history is pretty interesting (it was housed in an old women's bathroom at one point), and there's plenty of stuff out there, but the current version is admittedly in pretty rough shape. If it's merely a question of getting citations in there, that wouldn't be a problem. Constablequackers (talk) 09:28, 4 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The problem with the sources listed in the section above is that they are all from the school newspaper, and with this being the school's station, they do nothing to establish independent notability per WP:GNG, as these are not sources independent of the subject.--Tdl1060 (talk) 16:34, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Good point, but I do think they pass the notability bar. The Oregon Daily Emerald is independent of KWVA. They're not part of the same organization, have different staffs and management, etc. Now that said, this article shouldn't be comprised entirely of Emerald citations. I'm sure there's more out there. Constablequackers (talk) 09:56, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Just noting I marked this as patrolled as this discussion is ongoing. In my opinion it falls under {{Sources exist}} , and they should be added to the article, it seems to be notable from my source look around. Geardona (talk to me?) 17:45, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
