Article name

I have moved this article back to KATU from KATU-TV. Consensus on both WP:NC#Broadcasting and Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Television_Stations#Article_names is that the article name should reflect the actual call letters of the TV station. As can be seen here: [1] the call letters for this station are in fact KATU. Any concerns regarding this topic would be best addressed here: Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Television_Stations. —A 08:54, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

Unencyclopedic information

WP:NOT#DIR Wikipedia is not a directory or mirror of information that is not encyclopedic. There is an external link to the website if readers are seeking additional information about this commercial station.Awotter (talk) 00:45, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

The information needs to stay. It is on a lot of other Wikipedia TV sites and is useful. Myhousemf (talk) 01:50, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
It's against policy, you need to please check the guidelines as to what is acceptable in articles and what is not. Just because other articles are also wrong doesn't matter in this case. That is all information available on the stations website and it does not belong here.Awotter (talk) 20:39, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

(outdent for notice) I started a discussion over on the TV project talk page as well, if there is a strong consensus that this can stay (after being cleaned up or whatever) then that's fine by me. I don't want to get into an edit war at this point.Awotter (talk) 21:04, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

I will be fixing your unneeded markings here. Please stop erraneously marking things. It is worthy to stay. Myhousemf (talk) 04:05, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Reference

You're gonna need to say what needs a reference otherwise I'll be taking the notice off. Myhousemf (talk) 07:39, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

The entire article is unreferenced, I'm not going to go through section by section and place citation requests until it's necessary, if there is information that you have added that probably should be referenced, that would be appreciated, otherwise it's liable to be removed. The tag is also there as a notice to other editors who work to add references to articles they are interested in. Thanks.Awotter (talk) 08:31, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Names for the Newscast

I seem to remember that in the late '60s it was "News on 2." Are there any references to that title for the newscast? 76.21.8.213 (talk) 02:07, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

"Television Two"

I remember that, throughout much of at least the early '70s, KATU identified itself as "Television Two" (or "Two") rather than as KATU-TV. I'm not sure what the point was, except perhaps to make the station sound more cultured or erudite. 76.21.8.213 (talk) 02:11, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

NewsScene?

KOIN Channel 6 (the CBS affiliate) called its evening news program "Newscene" in the early '70s, then changed it to "Channel 6 News" in '73 or '74 (IIRC). (By the mid-'70s—or soon thereafter—it was "Newsroom 6.") I don't recall KATU using the similar sounding "NewsScene" between the times it used "Eyewitness News" and "Channel 2 [or Two] News." 66.234.222.23 (talk) 15:50, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

ThisTV logo removed

I removed the ThisTV logo. It seems akin to showing the ABC logo up in the infobox- unnecessary, it isn't specific to KATU. tedder (talk) 02:07, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

Who ever keeps adding that needs to stop. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chris-Gonzales (talkcontribs) 19:41, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

It's a bit of a puzzling situation best decided by guidance from a television wikiproject: If a station broadcasts a subchannel containing some other station, how should the first station's article handle it? —EncMstr (talk) 19:44, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
I've inquired at WT:WikiProject Television Stations#station article handling of subchannels. —EncMstr (talk) 20:55, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

Its not offical. Its by some 16 year old kid who has no buisness to be on here —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chris-Gonzales (talkcontribs) 19:47, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

Adding unreferenced entries of former employees to lists containing BLP material

Hello, Please do not add unreferenced names as entries to the list of former employees in articles. Including this type of material in articles does not abide by current consensus and its inclusion is strongly discouraged in our policies and guidelines. The rationales are as follows:

  1. WP:NOT tells us, Wikipedia is "not an indiscriminate collection of information." As that section describes, just because something is true, doesn't necessarily mean the info belongs in Wikipedia.
  2. As per WP:V, we cannot include information in Wikipedia that is not verifiable and sourced.
  3. WP:Source list tells us that lists included within articles (including people's names) are subject to the same need for references as any other information in the article.
  4. Per WP:BLP, we have to be especially careful about including un-sourced info about living persons.

If you look at articles about companies in general, you will not find mention of previous employees, except in those cases where the employee was particularly notable. Even then, the information is not presented just as a list of names, but is incorporated into the text itself (for example, when a company's article talks about the policies a previous CEO had, or when they mention the discovery/invention of a former engineer/researcher). If a preexisting article is already in the encyclopedia for the person you want to add to a list, it's generally regarded as sufficient to support their inclusion in list material in another article. cheers Deconstructhis (talk) 16:37, 26 April 2011 (UTC)
