Untitled[edit]

Königskinder was an opera premiered in 1910, but it had a rich, long life before that. I have spent serious time researching this piece, and if it's all right with everyone, I will expand this article over the next few weeks. - Dunkelweizen 22:57, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Names in roles table[edit]

An anon IP user from Germany made changes to the names in the roles column of the table, changing English to German. Since these are not proper names, I believe this change is not in accordance with the guidelines of WikiProject Opera. Any thoughts? --Francesco Malipiero (talk) 15:06, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It's a bit odd, because only the names of the first four characters have been done - why not Besenbinder, Hirt, etc.? I'm fairly relaxed about this, but I think that the English-language names should be first (this is EL WP), with the German in brackets. Of course, as you imply, they aren't actually names, just descriptions or occupations - cf Rusalka, most of the characters in Il piccolo Marat, Friedenstag, Wozzeck, Die Frau ohne Schatten, etc. I notice that German translations also appear in the FrOSch article (English first, though) and there are some links in Rusalka (surely "The Duchess" should be "The Foreign Princess"?). --GuillaumeTell 16:47, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I have made the change and put the English language names first, with the German italicised in brackets (cfr Die Frau ohne Schatten). I will also start a new section on the Rusalka talk page concerning the "role" of the Duchess. Best. --Francesco Malipiero (talk) 17:10, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Needs updating. Konigskinder was produced in Zurich during the 2007-08 season, with Jonas Kaufmann, and I'm listening to a Berlin Philharmonic broadcast from December 15-17, 2008 as I type this. I'm sure there have been other recent performances (e.g., Munich!).Tjfloyddc 18:15, 27 December 2008 (UTC)
