Spongebob movie.[edit]

Can someone make a note of its appearance in the climax of the SpongeBob SquarePants movie during 'I'm A Goofy Goober/Goofy Goober Rock'? I dunno where it would fit.--Editor510 drop us a line, mate 21:07, 26 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Menudo?[edit]

I just saw this video on YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhx5FLoLKPE Did they ever record this on an album? Yes, that's a young Ricky Martin. You can see where he got his skills. GumbyProf: "I'm about ideas, but I'm not always about good ideas." (talk) 15:14, 5 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

List of Versions[edit]

The Lou Bega section is unnecessarily large. There are many legends listed who get one line and Bega who is basically know for his cheesy Mambo song gets half the page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.171.169.196 (talk) 04:49, 20 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

David Lee Roth music video[edit]

Roth electrocutes a faux Billy Idol, and there are also Michael Jackson, Boy George, and Willie Nelson look alikes, and parodies of 80's trends like Jazzercize... AnonMoos (talk) 23:59, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Prima version, pairing with I Ain't Got Nobody[edit]

Louis Prima had always paired Just a Gigolo with I Ain't Got Nobody. He made two recordings of the medley in 1945 and 1946 (listed in Ron Cannatella's sessionography and released on Classics 1374). At the time of the first recording, Sam Butera was 17 and Prima had not even heard from him. Therefore at the most the 1956 version was at the most arranged by Butera, but the pairing was definitely not his idea. I am changing this article and the I Ain't Got Nobody one accordingly. -- Mütze (talk) 13:21, 6 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Why is there a David Lee Roth navigation box at the bottom of this song's entry?[edit]

The song was recorded by dozens of performers. Roth's version wasn't so notable that it should overshadow the rest. (Roth's wasn't even the most popular recent use of the song; the song inspired a whole recent TV series.) I recommend removing the box (while keeping the inline references to Roth and his version). I agree, have removed it.Hohenloh + 15:23, 5 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Chart position[edit]

Has Prima's version ever made any charts or not and if not why does his version get much more mention than any other version (including Roth's, even Lear's). AT THE VERY MOST Prima should have no more than the amount listed for any other hit version. In addition, the song itself should be a separate article from the medley.--90.204.123.40 (talk) 18:50, 1 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Louis Prima was the one who first stitched the two originally separate songs "Just a Gigolo" and "I Ain't Got Nobody" into a single unit. And I'm not sure that "Just a Gigolo" has great notability in the English-speaking world outside of the medley... AnonMoos (talk) 02:33, 2 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"prostitute"[edit]

I restored the original "hired dancer" wording, since that's what's in the English lyrics ("paid for every dance"), and a gigolo is not simply a prostitute.
Simple sex-for-money transactions between a male prostitute and female client have always been a small niche from what I can tell. I'm sure that the 1920s Austrian gigolo lifestyle often involved sex, but rarely as an overtly blatant cash-for-sex transaction (what is most usually called "prostitution")... There was a 1928 recording done by Sid Gary that's not in the list[edit]

There is a list of his recordings from 1928-1931 it appears on. Prior to that it was a fairly famous lounge song though. That's why so many recordings came out by different artists at the same time. 2601:681:8800:1130:D4C2:77CB:12FE:A2E6 (talk) 21:59, 23 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
