Please, do not remove Greece from the participating countries. Greece is my country and I heard from the news release the official announcement of DT (Public Television). Belarus

It seems there is a slight delay in the map's changes updating onto articles. This happens from time to time and is beyond our control. The system will catch up with itself soon enough. Wes Mᴥuse 19:05, 6 January 2014 (UTC)

Update - I've ended up removing Belarus from the confirmation list. The source itself does not mention anything about Belarus confirming participation at JESC2014, and this violates verifiability and potential original research from whoever added them as being confirmed. @JESCFun: No, you should not be the source. Websites like Eurovoix and Wiwibloggs are often used because they've established themselves as clearly reliable, while JuniorEurovision.tv and Eurovision.tv are used because they're official websites. Esc-Plus is not listed as a reliable website so they should not be used. Also, we do not simply change sources for reasons like you stated. "Publishing it online first" is not a good argument for why you should be used and seems quite immature. Can you explain me why those sites are reliable and not mine? Everyone sometimes publishes mistakes (even Eurovoix published Portugal is in and the aren't officially in...). @JESCFun: They are considered reliable because they publish strict facts and this is recognised by everyone associated with Eurovision on Wikipedia. Eurovoix publishing that Portugal will participate is not a "mistake". As I've said, they are a reliable news source and if they claim that Portugal will participate, I wouldn't understand why you wouldn't believe them. Several news sources reported on Bulgaria participating before they were officially confirmed, those weren't "mistakes" on the websites' part. Also, pretty much every Eurovision site will contact delegations, so you're not alone there. Your site could possibly be reliable too, I'm not sure, I don't often read it. But as I said, if you'd like Esc-Plus to be allowed to get published on Wikipedia, you will need a reliability check. But even if you do become listed as reliable, that doesn't immediately assure that you will get published as Eurovoix, Wiwibloggs, and the official websites are what often gets published. The "Island" of Malta

Can just point out a problem, the junioreurovision.tv/ says that "Instead, it has been decided that the entire island of Malta will the host of Junior Eurovision 2014!", now are they referring to Malta which is the collective name of the country which is not an island but a group of islands, or Malta (island) which is the largest island which makes up Malta, along with Gozo and Comino, so thus in the 'Location' section, saying and linking to Malta as the host "island" is rather incorrect. -- [[ axg // ✉ ]] 14:16, 17 February 2014 (UTC)

BelenESCPlus

From my understanding you're not allowed to be posting information onto wikipedia if you are associated with the site that it's being linked to. Unreliable sources

There have been two occasions now when a source from Blogspot (junioreurosongforever.blogspot.no) has been attempted to use as a reliable source. The first was to cite Spain's return; the second for Norway. Sources from blogspot are unreliable and published by one person only. Anyone (even Wikipedia users) can create an account on Blogspot and claim it to be "true" reliable news service, when in actual fact some of content is not. Please try and avoid using any Blogspot accounts for sourcing, and stick to more reputable websites so that we are maintaining Wikipedia's reputation of verifiability and publishing of reliable sources. There are several sources for the notion that Norway consider JESC to be child abuse.

The best I found on short notice was this one.

It starts by criticising the commercial pressure, as they call it (As if no such pressure existed in Norway…). Then continuing by abusing Maria Isabel as a cruel example of how bad this commercial pressure is, coming awfully close to calling her an abused child. Fürst says, I am sure this is not good for children. The article ends with a comment from BarneVakten, the Baby Sitter, a somewhat questionable organization, at least for those of us who distrust the current regime, who has taken upon themselves to tell other what's acceptable for kids on TV, video and movies, and what's not. They commend NRK for their choice by stating that kids has to be protected against commercial pressure, which basically means abuse or exploitation.

There is no question that there is a consensus among Norwegian NGOs and the government, that the way JESC portrays and use children is child abuse, and that the similar use of children in the Scandinavian MGP jr is not. Basically it's hypocrisy.

Switzerland

Under "Other Countries", Switzerland have confirmed their non-participation. But on the map, Switzerlans is not colored yellow. Why isn't Switzerland colored yellow? SpaceON2 (talk) 16:37, 12 July 2014 (UTC)

Simple really, the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation (SRG SSR) has 4 national broadcasters that are members of the EBU. Only the Italian language broadcaster (Radiotelevisione svizzera) has declared non-participation. However the remaining broadcasters; Radio Télévision Suisse (French language), Schweizer Radio und Fernsehen (German language), or Radiotelevisiun Svizra Rumantscha (Romansh language); may yet decide to participate instead - which is still possible. Once all 4 members of SRG SSR have stated non-participation, then Switzerland will be changed to yellow on the map. Wes Mouse 22:20, 12 July 2014 (UTC)

The map

Earlier this day, a very few number of countries were colored yellow on the map, and now it almost all countries is yellow. Is this just a "funny" joke, or is this real? SpaceON2 (talk) 21:39, 15 July 2014 (UTC)

I checked the file and it appears someone coloured all the countries which haven't made a decision yet yellow. However, yellow is used to only colour countries that have said no. Number of countries

I don't know how many countries have to participate in the contest, so it can be arranged? Must be à minimum of 11 I think (beacuse it has to work Witherspoon the score system I think). Sometimes when news about a country's participation surfaces, someone who is capable of updating the map is not present. That doesn't mean that Bulgaria is not actually participating, it just means that no one who knows how to change the map has seen this news yet. Junioreurovision.tv isn't the only reliable Eurovision-related source. Sure it is the official website but there are other sources such as Eurovoix and Wiwibloggs who've reported this. In Bulgaria's case the Bulgarian broadcaster confirmed their participation which is honestly just as good as Junioreurovision.tv confirming it.
