Birthday

There are two different dates associated to Julian's birthday. January 4/1958 and January 15/1958. Which one is correct? Hotwine8 22:02, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

Filmography?

Shouldn't there be a filmography section on this page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 8h3d0kg (talkcontribs) 18:26, 10 June 2012 (UTC)

There should, but not one directly yanked from the French Wikipedia without any changes to the links which are in French. --76.69.220.246 (talk) 22:44, 13 July 2012 (UTC)

Arnie lookalike?

Are we sure the main photo isn't one of Arnold Schwarzenegger? -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 15:35, 20 September 2020 (UTC)

Mark Kermode

I have removed the bit about Mark Kermode not liking Julian Sands as an actor, as I didn't exactly see how this was relevant. Each and every actor and actress has at least one film critic who dislikes him/her. If this information is relevant (i.e., if Mark Kermode has written a very notable article or series of articles explaining why Julian Sands sucks at acting, or if Julian Sands has somehow responded) it might be added back, but I think that, should it be used at all, it would be more fitting to put it into the Mark Kermode article, where it is not mentioned at present. lol. The only reason I'm reading this is because I saw Room With a View last weekend and thought Sands was awful! FangoFuficius (talk) 08:32, 23 September 2021 (UTC)

Article preview uses term "was" to describe Sands, and he could still be alive

It doesn't do that at the article itself, just in the preview- but since, at this point, we don't know whether he's deceased or not, could whoever controls the article preview wording go in and edit that? It's disturbing to have that there at this poing 67.168.187.118 (talk) 18:13, 28 January 2023 (UTC)

Rose Red

He also played the character Nick in a Steven King TV Series named Rose Red 2A00:23C7:6084:6301:DD2B:BC47:B990:CC65 (talk) 20:20, 2 March 2023 (UTC)

Years active

If we generally agree that this man is not proven to be deceased as of now, why then do we decide to terminate his career upon the date of his disappearance? I am not arguing that we should pretend that he is still working as an actor if his disappearance remains unresolved for years, but for now it seems contradictory to not acknowledge him as a no longer extant person yet end his career when he never formally retired. 168.91.63.69 (talk) 05:50, 27 May 2023 (UTC)

Listing of Disappearance date poorly timed

Please don’t list his disappearance like a death yet! They just found that lost 75 year old man in the same area! (No disrespect to Jin Chung, I’m glad he’s safe.) They are still searching, and listing his disappearance this way is painful and disheartening for his fans, much less the people who know and love him. It’s worth mentioning in his entry, of course, just not in the death position. 2001:56A:7868:B100:3167:5235:3D34:1C54 (talk) 03:34, 26 January 2023 (UTC)

  • The wording has since been corrected, but I do wonder when the cut-off date for searching is. How long was Mr. Chung missing? I do agree that nothing should be listed as official until it's made official, of course, either way. 136.159.160.121 (talk) 17:31, 5 May 2023 (UTC)
At this point in the slim chance he’s alive, he doesn’t want to be found. He ain’t living on Gilligan’s Island, he went missing at a specific known location and there was nothing there to be found except all the belongings left behind like his cellphone. So either he ran off to start a new life by some secret plan or his body has been consumed by nature for instance eaten by a pack of coyotes. The procedure should be to list it as if he’s dead, and if he’s still around and has a problem with that, he can edit it himself. 67.168.219.238 (talk) 22:01, 7 May 2023 (UTC)
that’s not how it works. A missing person has to be declared legally dead for them to be considered, well, dead. Until that happens, this article should not be written to suggest such. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 168.91.63.69 (talk) 05:44, 27 May 2023 (UTC)
This is very sad but sometimes it is best to brace for the worst which is what his brother has more or less done. I really hope they find him alive but I am bracing for the worst myself. 103.234.250.131 (talk) 11:38, 9 June 2023 (UTC)

Missing "asof" date needs citation

The date of the most recent reference given for Sands' status is April 2023, so the article should not state that it is June w/o supporting ref.Blainster (talk) 20:42, 16 June 2023 (UTC)

Title change

The title of this Wikipedia article should be changed from "Julian Sands" to "Disappearance of Julian Sands", especially since he has been missing for over one month now. Most Wikipedia articles of people who have gone missing have "Disappearance of" in the title, so this one should be the same, in my opinion. Would this be possible? TheJay123 (talk) 19:54, 16 February 2023 (UTC)

Disagree, he was notable prior to his disappearance. Articles "Disappearance of X" are for people known only for the disappearance, and where the disappearance event is notable enough for an article. The article should stay and be about the person, not the one section we have on the disappearance. Joseph2302 (talk) 20:27, 16 February 2023 (UTC)
I agree with Joseph. Sad as it may be, Sands' disappearance is not the only aspect of his notability and while undoubtedly of major interest to family and fans, is not in and of itself notable enough to work as a stand-alone article. 136.159.160.121 (talk) 17:33, 5 May 2023 (UTC)
Either the disappearance material should be spun off into a new article (I oppose this per WP:NOTNEWS) or it should be pared down to a few sentences per WP:NOTNEWS, WP:RECENTISM and the spirit of WP:UNDUE. —  AjaxSmack  16:27, 26 June 2023 (UTC)

Death

The death section of this needs removing immediately - he has not been confirmed as deceased and identification of the body found is not expected until next week. It is extremely disrespectful and insulting to his family for someone to have edited this page to put that he has died. Shameful. 2A02:C7C:5F29:1700:D809:CE8A:A9BB:A306 (talk) 15:50, 25 June 2023 (UTC)

Death date

The death date was never confirmed. He went missing on 13 January 2023 which is not the same as someone dying. Please at least wait for an autopsy. Linkin Prankster (talk) 01:26, 28 June 2023 (UTC)

I was thinking this, also. He could have survived for a while. Need to wait. It should be confirmed deceased with unknown date. It appears like it has been editied more recently than your reply P37307 (talk) 01:34, 28 June 2023 (UTC)
