"and known professionally as" (?)[edit]

This edit is (1) counter the examples in WP:OPENPARA, (2) counter 2 sources in the BLP which show the player is "known professionally" by his own name in his notable competitions in Grupo uno de la Zona Americana. In ictu oculi (talk) 18:58, 26 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It goes against nothing, and the sources in English confirm it. Fyunck(click) (talk) 19:11, 26 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The format goes against (1)

* César Estrada Chávez (March 31, 1927 – April 23, 1993) was an American farm worker, labor leader..

  • François Maurice Adrien Marie Mitterrand (26 October 1916 – 8 January 1996) was the fourth President of France ..
And "known professionally" goes against (2)

He's not a farm worker and he's not a president. I don't know that foreign language and it is against guidelines to use a foreign spelled source if any English source can be found. He is sourced in English correctly. Fyunck(click) (talk) 19:21, 26 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Fyunck
(1) the examples in Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Biographies do not limit application of MOS to Mexican trade unionists or French presidents.
(2) No English WP:RS source has been provided, the BLP subject is primarily notable in LatAm competition, but not in English speaking countries. http://beta.itftennis.com and http://www.atpworldtour.com/Tennis/Players/V628.aspx are not WP:RS, they are merely index cards. They don't compare with Periódico Expectativa! and El Comercio, Ecuador. These are real sources. In ictu oculi (talk) 19:32, 26 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That is strictly an opinion of yours. There is also nothing there that says you have to use a foreign language name, just a full name. But I didn't belabor that point. But per wikipedia Policy you should be using English language sources if available. Fyunck(click) (talk) 19:46, 26 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Actually it isn't just my opinion, see WP:PSTS, and I've already made the point that the sources available happen to be Periódico Expectativa! and El Comercio, Ecuador. In ictu oculi (talk) 20:00, 26 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
