Poor sentence structure?[edit]

I'm confused by this sentence: "Josiah was the ninth and the last child of his parents, Thomas Franklin, blacksmith and farmer, and his wife were the death of Jane White Franklin." Is this trying to say that he was the 9th and last child of the parents and that the mother died during child birth? 216.10.193.24 (talk) 19:40, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
