GA Reassessment[edit]

This article has been reviewed as part of Wikipedia:WikiProject Good articles/Project quality task force in an effort to ensure all listed Good articles continue to meet the Good article criteria. In reviewing the article, I have found there are some issues that may need to be addressed, listed below. I will check back in seven days. If these issues are addressed, the article will remain listed as a Good article. Otherwise, it may be delisted (such a decision may be challenged through WP:GAR). If improved after it has been delisted, it may be nominated at WP:GAN. Feel free to drop a message on my talk page if you have any questions, and many thanks for all the hard work that has gone into this article thus far.

This article needs some significant work if it is to retain its GA listing, most importantly in the areas of citation and pov.

  • There are at least ten requests for citation outstanding.
  • The Writings section has been flagged as needing further citations since last month.
  • The Execution section is flagged for clean up (correctly in my view), as it's written like an essay.
  • There are many external links in the body of the article, such as at the end of the fifth paragraph of Legacy. External links should appear only in the External links section.
  • Many of the citations provide only a url. Full details such as publisher, title, and last accessdate must be supplied.
  • Some of the hidden comments are causing formatting problems, such as with the list in the fifth paragraph of the Legacy section.
  • The Rizal in popular culture section is a list of one-sentence paragraphs, which needs to be turned into proper prose.
  • The writing needs works in several places:
  • "The decade after his death saw the proliferation of groups such as the Iglesia Sagrada ng Lahi and the Banner of the Race Church, which claimed him as sublimation of Christ." This is a use of the word "sublimation" with which I am not familiar. What does it mean here? Why "as sublimation", rather than "the sublimation", or "a sublimation" anyway?
  • "... alleging that the La Liga Filipina had for its sole object to commit the crime of rebellion". Ungrammatical.
  • "In her diary, she wrote of a day Rizal spent there and regaled them with his social graces and sleight-of-hand tricks." The tenses don't match; should be something like "... spent there, regaling them with his social graces ...".
  • "The Ullmer family and the Blumentritts claimed they saved buttonholes and napkins with sketches and notes which were ultimately bequeathed to the Rizal family to form a trove of memorabilia." I very much doubt that they were "bequeathed to form a trove".
  • From the last paragraph of Family, another which is completely uncited: "Aside from Chinese ancestry, recent genealogical research has found that José had traces of Spanish, and Japanese ancestry." When is "recently? Yesterday? Last month? Last year? Need to qualify statements like that, as in "research published in ????".

  • I did some clean-up (removed hidden comments, some of which were mine; Execution section--deleted those expressing POV; In Popular Culture--divided them in 2 paragraphs which I think make more sense; and some other minor ones), but there's still a long way to go. Those marked with citation needed will probably have to be removed...going on vacation next week and won't have time to do it all. Some of the URLs don't work anymore. I wish some of the editors would help.

There's no rush KaElin. Now that I know you (and hopefully others) are working on this article I'm happy to keep the review open for as long as it takes. --Malleus Fatuorum 03:42, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

How are we doing with this?[edit]

Is this article ready to be looked at again? A quick looks shows me that the Execution section remains almost entirely uncited. --Malleus Fatuorum 15:39, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Some guy did changed some data like date of birth and place of death. Pls do check your posted data on him. I just stumbled on his biography coz I need to. Thanks -Romeo- —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.54.148.90 (talk) 17:34, 14 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Work seems to have stalled on this article; there are still five requests for citation outstanding, along with several uncited sections and that rather colourfully written Execution. I'll keep this review open until the weekend to allow time for these and the other remaining issues to be dealt with. --Malleus Fatuorum 11:32, 15 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • The citation issue still remains outstanding, and so I have now delisted this article. --Malleus Fatuorum 11:39, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
