John de Lacy, 2nd Earl of LincolnJohn de Lacy, Earl of Lincoln – Source given in the article[1] says he's the 3rd earl but also that he was "created an earl", which would make him a 1st earl. Complete Peerage[2] says he was the first earl of the fourth creation, making him the fourth earl ever (there was only one earl of each of the first three creations, according to that source). Regardless of whether he's the first, third or fourth earl, neither of the sources say he's the second earl and given the confusion over numerals it's probably best to avoid one. The numeral is also unnecessary disambiguation: there are no other earls of Lincoln called John de Lacy. DrKay (talk) 21:15, 16 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
