"Other composers came to write instrumental works modelled on this"[edit]

I was under the impression that instrumental works "In Nomine" by various composers were not modelled on this section - they had in practice a number of different parts, resulting in In Nomines à 4, à 5, à 3, etc. ... but rather quoted a (specific) memorable melody from the Taverner work. Though it is true that their texture, with this melody tending to occupy a plainchant-like place, was similar (if sometimes in the bass, sometimes alto, etc.) - again so far as I know, which is not all that far?...

Also, re Taverner the opera being based on the life of ... I think that's rather like saying Palestrina the opera is based on the life of Palestrina. Something like: A highly mythified version of a portion of the life of is better than "based", sometimes, and much more accurate. Schissel | Sound the Note! 12:26, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
