I disagree with your reasoning @George Ho: His claim to notability is as a poet and John G. Smith was the name he used when publishing. The references to his full name relate to his private and professional life. "John Smith" is a name that has been used as an example in many things. Usually, it is a name of a nonexistent person whose address is nonexistent as well, like "1234 Avenue St." I didn't know how to explain what a "Placeholder name" is until now. Even "John G. Birthplace[edit]

The 1851 Scottish census has John G. Smith, aged 37, parochial schoolmaster, living at the schoolhouse in Ednam, giving his birthplace as Carnwath, Lanarkshire. Also there is his sister Agnes Smith, 43, born Carnwath. The 1861 Scottish census has John G. Smith, aged 45, parish schoolmaster, living in North Row, Ednam, with birthplace given as Biggar, Lanarkshire [about 7 miles from Carnwath]. With him is his wife Mary Smith, 35, born Oban, and four children, namely John G Smith (8 years), Mary Ann Smith (5), Jane Graham Smith (3) and James Waddell Smith (1).
