Untitled[edit]

He was a major investor philanthropist and representative of the unioniist interest in Cork Durrus 07:45, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Is he described in other articles relating to Cork?[edit]

Maybe descriptions of his role and importance could be added to other articles on subjects that he was involved in. Then there would be a reason for this page to exist because it would be an important link in other articles. KarenAnn 12:14, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Irish Times[edit]

The Irish Times article states that the paper was sold to Sir John's widow, and not to him.

Family tradition says he was born in Auchtermuchty in Fife - I will try to find some confirmation of this
