Tautology[edit]

He became a wealthy plantation owner and slave holder.

Any plantation owner in Texas at that time would have been a slave-holder. It's like saying 'Airline pilot and holder of a pilot's license'. The category 'American slave owner' now seems to be pasted on to every American in history who ever owned a slave, however irrelevant to his notability. It’s obviously meant as a political smear. It is non-encyc, and I feel that the category should be restricted to people whose slave-owning history was notable in itself. Valetude (talk) 11:30, 11 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
