WOOD, WATER & LIGHT: CLASSIC WOODEN BOATS, text by Joel White, photographs by Benjamin Mendlowitz (177 pages. W. W. Norton. $45 until Dec. 31, $50 thereafter). Untainted by snobbery, this lovely work includes a dinghy, a runabout, a lobsterboat, a peapod, a sardine carrier, an oceangoing yacht, several speedboats and all manner of sailboats. What they all have in common is wood, which combined with water and light, lend them an aura that only the eye can apprehend and that the photographs in this volume convey most delectably.

Images of Joel White's boats can be found using Google image search. It helps to use the name of a particular boat, for example "Joel White Pooduck Skiff". I'll try to add a table of the nearly sixty designs, some of which don't have numbers. htom (talk) 16:35, 13 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
