TV Shows[edit]

Joan hosted a tv show from 1983–1989 entitled "Mother's Day." The opening of the show included shots of her either waking up or saying a very early morning good-bye to her three older daughters, who at the time were quite young. In the show she provided hints and advice to mothers. While I distinctly remember watching the show myself, I found references to the show here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_A._Krauss and here http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0458279/. I do not know how to add this to the main page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.36.32.86 (talk) 01:53, 6 September 2011 (UTC) 68.36.32.86 (talk) 01:55, 6 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Joan Lunden, with whom I worked closely and with whom I socialized, beginning in 1975, told me her birth name is Joni Blunden. Her father was a medical doctor who shared a practice with the father of Barbi Benton. Joni and Barbi were inseparable growing up, and made loacl appearances performing together. Blunden's father died in a crash when flying a small aircraft. I don't know when "Joan" changed her name, but according to her, she "modeled" for a time in Sacramento: not what we think of as fashion modeling or photographer's modeling, but rather walking through ladies' restaurants at lunch wearing clothing from a local store, hosting a party sponsored by a liquor firm, and similar work.

ABC executive Phil Boyer brought Joan from Sacramento, where she told me she was a weather girl (I never heard her say anything about anchoring or reporting, in fact I was assigned on her arrival to teach her how to go out with a crew and report a story). The idea that she was born Jewish is quite a shock to me. Having met her mother, and dated her, I would have thought she might have told me, since I am Jewish.

The article as written is simply a piece of puff.
